In “Building Differentiated Math Projects”, Ian Byrd discusses methods for finding seeds in the real world that can be used as a starting point for interesting math projects. Then, he’ll show you how to grow those seeds into projects that are both intriguing and motivating for gifted students.

In this 1-hour course, you will learn the four key ideas for building projects:

  • Finding relevant, authentic data
  • Posing conflict within the data
  • Bringing an alternate perspective to the issue
  • Designing an end-product for students to work toward 
Ian Byrd taught gifted students in Garden Grove, California where he grew up as a gifted student. He has a degree in Computer Science, but gifted education is his passion.
